“No Time to Die” Leaves Its Fan Base Satisfied

Viola's Rating:8.0
All things
must come to an end, and Daniel Craig was lucky enough to be the only 007 who
could actually have a finale and bid farewell to his character. As the sixth
James Bond, Craig played 007 one last time in his fifth outing and the 25th
in the franchise. Although it’s time to say goodbye, there’s no time to die,
and the latest Bond feature film will leave its fan base satisfied on Oct 8,
2021.
In this
adventurous action thriller, James Bond has left active service for MI6. His
peace is brief when Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright), an old friend from the CIA,
turns up asking for help, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain
armed with dangerous new technology.
“No Time to
Die” did plant some bookends in the film, but they aren’t clever enough to
surprise the audience. Moreover, the background and motivation of the villain, Lyutsifer
Safin (Rami Malek), aren’t deep enough to make moviegoers believe he really
wants to do what he’s doing. Hence, the rivalry between Bond and Safin isn’t
intense until the very end.
On the
other hand, “No Time to Die” does an amazing job building up the conflicts
between the innovation and the tradition. By depicting the differences after
Bond retired, the flick presents the changed and unchanged feature of MI6 and
how agents take parts in the missions. Even though the audience won’t be able
to witness Q’s usual introduction of all kinds of advanced weapons for Bond,
the ones Q actually brings out are much more cutting-edge.
As the 25th
motion picture of the series, “No Time to Die” shows classic elements of James
Bond to create a wave of nostalgia such as the iconic gun barrel sequence opening
reference and the most memorable quote Bond uses the most to introduce himself
to Bond girls.
“No Time to
Die” is very generous to its diehard aficionados. It’s a movie you can watch
independently, but if you’ve seen the previous four, you’ll find familiar
characters show up again, unfinished plots close with unexpected endings.
Therefore, “No Time to Die” is indeed the finale for Craig’s Bond journey.
Although
this episode is more emotional and sentimental than usual since Craig’s leaving
the franchise, the action scenes won’t disappoint moviegoers. Car chasing
scenes are brilliant, and there’s even a one-shot shooting scene that’ll give
the audience adrenaline-filled moments.
All in all,
even though “No Time to Die” isn’t as good as “Casino Royale” and “Skyfall”, it
definitely is the best walking out picture ever, and it has all the classic and
nostalgic elements as a 007 work. Most important of all is that although it’s
not perfect, both Daniel Craig and “No Time to Die” leave their fan base satisfied.
