Viola's Rating:8.3
After “Infinity War” and “Endgame”, it’s time for Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to close its phase three, and to conduct this mission, Marvel provides the popular avenger “Spider-Man” with the sequel of his individual feature film, which was released on July 2, 2019.
Following the events of “Avengers: Endgame”, Spidey must step up to take on new threats in the world that has changed forever. As the last film of phase three, this typical Marvel adventurous, sci-fi action flick not only deals with the “blip” and people’s adjustment and reaction to it, but also develops spider-man himself as a character although there are some attributes that disappoints die-hard Marvel addicts.
We’re all familiar with the “With great power, comes great responsibility” quote, and since Peter Parker is just a high school student, of course he’s still learning about this, but some deeds he does in “Spider-Man: Far From Home” are way too irresponsible that the audience can’t even see the optimistic and proactive Spider-Man appeared in its prequel. However, the Wall-Crawler does undergo some mind-changing incidents, and growing up from the experience and becoming more mature are the themes in this motion picture.
Not just part of a comic series, “Spider-Man: Far From Home” tries to blend in the modern world by adding elements such as fake news and live streaming into the movie, hoping to trigger moviegoers to consider these issues.
Also, as a post-endgame episode, “Spider-Man: Far From Home” pays tribute to the sacrificed heroes with many different approaches throughout the picture. Despite the avengers can’t come to support Spider-Man in its individual feature film due to copyright problems, aficionados still get to see them in variant ways.
Besides the connection to the avengers, the villains in “Spider-Man: Far From Home” are pretty diverse, but at the same time, it’s not too confusing. By combining those notable Peter Parker supervillains who are related to the Five Elements and bringing up the Elementals, even non-comic-reader enthusiasts wouldn’t have trouble comprehending the plot.
Meanwhile, another significant Spider-Man supervillain is introduced, Mysterio. He teams up with the Web-Head in “Spider-Man: Far From Home”, so it’ll be pretty interesting to see what happens in this franchise or the ones in the upcoming future.
Generally, “Spider-Man: Far From Home” still keeps the Marvel standard to entertain the audience, and we get to see how Spider-Man grows up without his mentor, Tony Stark, by his side. There are just some twists leading to the new phase that might disappoint hardcore Marvel fans and leave us a little bit lost in the direction MCU is going to lead its lovers to.
