As
Marvel aficionados just finished the awful Netflix Marvel One-Shot “Iron Fist”,
the third feature film of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), “Guardians of the
Galaxy Vol.2” was released on May 5, 2017.
Similar
to DC’s “Suicide Squad”, the Guardians are not “superheroes” but criminals.
Being a sequel, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2” sets to the backdrop
of “Awesome Mixtape #2,” and it continues the team's adventures as they
traverse the universe. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family
together as they clear up the mysteries of who Peter Quill's biological father
is. Old foes become new allies and characters that fans love the most from the
classic comics will come to help as MCU continues to expand, and the Guardians
will come back in “Avengers: Infinity War”.
In the
end of the previous film, Groot sacrificed itself and became a little twig
which is referred to as “baby Groot” in the trailer, but it doesn’t mean that
its parts are truncated a lot. By contrast, it has a bunch of camera shots
right from the beginning and probably will win the hearts of every moviegoer
with its adorable mannerism. Also, all characters treat baby Groot in different
ways which create a host of punch lines in the flick.
As
mentioned before, “Guardians of Galaxy Vol.2” brings up Quill’s parentage, and
that he’s actually an “alien” of human descent. If Agents of SHIELD are
different from the Avengers because they don’t have super powers, the Guardians
are closer to the Avengers since they’re mixed human, aliens, speaking animal
or plant though the plant can only repeat one sentence.
Besides
the father-son family love and the friendship within Guardians, Gomora’s
sister, Nebula, who has totally different complexion from her sister and was
the villain in “Guardians of the Galaxy”, comes along in this motion picture as
well. There are a large number of dialogue and interaction between them, some
are amiable and touching while the others are hostile and hurtful.
With
the main characters traveling around the galaxy, the azure blue sky on Earth,
the golden yellow Sovereign and the sparkling fireworks all help to add an
ambience to their colorful adventure contrast to the prison they stayed in “Guardians
of the Galaxy” and where Yondu raised Quill up.
Although
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2” is not as compact as its previous movie, it’s
not light years away from the original entertaining effect while at the same time;
it drives the audience to burst into tears with its intimacy between
characters. Anyone can save the galaxy once, so this time, outfit yourself and
poke around with these crazy, but not scary; haphazard, but not hazard “heroes”
for an amazing tour.
