A month before Christmas in 2013, Walt Disney Pictures brought Anna, Elsa, Olaf and other “Frozen” favs into the world, causing a sensation with its catchy songs and giving little girls around the globe a brand-new princess dream that’s different from any other Disney feature films. Six years later, parents are ready to welcome another year of singing songs from “Frozen II” after it was released on November 22nd, 2019.
Following what happened in the end of “Frozen”, the latest adventurous comedy animation took the audience with Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven as they leave Arendelle to travel to an ancient, autumn-bound forest of an enchanted land. They set out to find the origin of Elsa's powers in order to save their kingdom.
Not only the origin of Elsa’s powers will be revealed, but also the history of Anna and Elsa’s family will be told. During the process, moviegoers get to know the reason why Anna and Elsa’s appearance, clothing and hair color are so different. This attribute also answers another often-asked question of animation: Why the outfits of the characters never change? That doesn’t happen in “Frozen 2”, in which the protagonists keep switching their clothing according to the situations they’re dealing with.
Last time, we only saw Elsa’s powers of ice and snow and met with trolls; this time, there’ll be more elementals for us to discover. Also, as Olaf gained a bunch of aficionados after the film was released, there’s a new character that’s going to win every audience’s heart with its cuteness.
Adapted from the Danish fairy tale “The Snow Queen”, the theme of “Frozen” emphasizes on distinguishing between good and bad, but as we approach “Frozen II”, it seems to be changed from an animation that targets children to one that’s suitable for all ages that it focuses on sacrifice. Here we’re talking about sacrificing for whom you love, including the main characters’ family members, lovers or even their people. Love is displayed in different forms throughout the “Frozen” franchise, and what’s in “Frozen II” is especially touching.
Besides sacrifice, the flick also talks about trust. Whether it’s the trust between former foes, trust between sisters or soldiers trusting their leaders, they can all be seen in “Frozen II”. Even if something seems impossible to be accomplished, with the trust carried out by the protagonists, everything’s possible.
Last but not least, and it’s actually one of the most important key points that many care about, although the songs in “Frozen II” aren’t as catchy as that of in “Frozen”, they’re still pretty warm, and they clearly define how well the motion picture is as an animation that can melt everyone’s heart.
